Here are some tips in order to improve the accuracy of the application:
We recommend you perform the Device Calibration against a flat vertical edge (or wall). A simple example could be the corner of a door or window frame. You will need to keep turning the device so the arrow is pointing upwards and then hold it very still for the 3 seconds while the calibration reading is taking place. For the last two steps of the Device Calibration you will need to lie the device flat on a table, screen facing the sky, and then facing the floor. A tip for the last step is to over hang the device slightly so you can press the button.
Note: You should only need to do the device calibration once - unless you restore your device. Of course you can run it as frequently as you like.
Before recording in the car you will need to secure the device in place so that it cannot move. We have found windscreen mounts to be very good at keeping the device still.
After your device is in place you will need to open and complete the In-Car Calibration.
1) Drive to a location with an empty stretch of road in front of you and stop. With the car completely still press "Calibrate 1" and wait for 3 seconds.
Tip: You can try with the handbrake on the car, or alternatively with the engine switched off.
2) When ready, start the engine, press "Calibrate 2" and keep accelerating (going faster and faster). Do NOT just drive ahead at the same speed.
Your device should now be calibrated for the mount that you have setup. As long as you do not change the mount the device should remain accurate and not need re-calibrating. If you have a good windscreen mount (that doesn't move) you should be able to re-use your calibration settings each time you get in the car.
You can tell if the calibration was successful by bringing the car to a stop and going into the recording screen. Press Start and the speed should remain at 0 and the max g should idle between 0.05g and 0.10g. Maybe slightly higher if your car vibrates when stationary. I know a lot of you have powerful cars and this might result in you needing to use a higher Auto-Start value (eg: 0.25g).
